DGDA Launches Historic Souq Al Mawsim Wadi Hanifah
1 March 2023The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) has launched its Souq Al Mawsim seasonal market. The 10-week offers an outlet for productive families and will showcase a wide range of products encompassing everything from home-cooked food and desserts, home-brewed coffee, and homegrown fruit and vegetables to handcrafted scents and garments.
The initiative comes as part of DGDA’s efforts to rejuvenate the old quarters around historic Diriyah, including town squares and open parks, to become vibrant attractions among both residents and visitors. In doing so, the authority seeks to generate business for local families and craftspeople, providing them with multiple outlets to sell their handicrafts and rejuvenating the city’s historic lifestyle in a highly authentic way.
Located in At-Turaif Park which is between the west side of At-Turaif Historical District and the east side of Bujairi Terrace where the entrance it, Souq Al Mawseim’s Seasonal name reflects the diverse range of shops that once served Diriyah’s population, which had something to offer to everyone.
DGDA’s ongoing work at Diriyah is aimed at conserving the ancient city’s heritage and showcasing its historical and cultural significance, as well as enhancing the sense of belonging in the hearts and minds of Saudis of all ages and ensuring that the knowledge of their ancestors lives on.
The launch of Souq Al Mawsim comes in conjunction with DGDA’s ongoing Diriyah Gate Project, which is developing world-class infrastructure, marketplaces, recreational facilities, and modern residential districts to establish Diriyah as a leading global destination.
