To commemorate Founding Day, Diriyah, the birthplace of the Kingdom, hosts a Founding Day Parade. Spectators can watch the vibrant parade comprised of military personnel on camel and horseback and members of the Diriyah community as it makes its route through Diriyah.

What's OnFounding Day

At-Turaif offers the full program of its much-loved activities over Founding Day weekend, open to all on a drop-in basis. From immersive theatre on Nuzul Street to mudbrick making, as well as two new experiences, there is something for everyone.

Listen to the stories of kinship and family connections underpinning this historical district whilst creating a family tree of one’s own. This 30-minute workshop explores the life of Imam Muhammad bin Saud, the founding father of Saudi Arabia and the Al Saud family.

Set within At-Turaif Park, the first Diriyah Seasonal Market is the place to source seasonal, locally-grown fresh produce, as well as local craft items and special finds from across its many stalls. What’s more, visitors will be treated to live performances whilst they wander and a fun photo booth to take home a photographic souvenir.

Diriyah’s dining destination, Bujairi Terrace celebrates the national holiday with Founding Day-themed drop-in workshops and activities for all to enjoy, as well as story-telling, kite-flying, balloons and sweet treats for the little ones.

Visitors of all ages are welcome to take a 30-minute workshop and try their hand at traditional crafts including beadwork, pottery painting, Arabic calligraphy and Najdi pattern coloring, ending up with something special to take home.
